Hurricanes Milton and Helene Disaster Response Update - 10/14/2024

As the damage caused by Hurricane Milton becomes more apparent and the relief efforts for both Hurricane Helene and Milton continue, PetSmart Charities is committed to supporting the impacted communities. We are consistently seeing significant grant requests come in from some of the hardest-hit areas as they regain communication capabilities.

Animal welfare and human services organizations with pet programming in the impacted areas are encouraged to apply for support through the PetSmart Charities Disaster Response Grant Portal.

Thank you to our donors for their overwhelming response and aiding in our disaster relief efforts through donations made online and at PetSmart store locations. You can continue to support the pets in need and those who love them here.

As we learn more, we will continue to keep you updated on the work being done. We remain committed to helping with recovery and our response is not over.

Hurricanes Milton and Helene Disaster Response Update - 10/09/2024

As Hurricane Milton approaches, we expect disaster response needs will grow in the coming weeks, and we need your help more than ever.

Disaster response fundraising is now active in U.S. PetSmart stores through Sunday, October 13, 2024. You can help by making a donation to PetSmart Charities at your local PetSmart store. Simply ask a store associate about donating to our disaster relief fund at checkout and your donations will go directly to assist those in the impacted areas.

We have granted nearly $300,000 for Hurricane Helene recovery, including over $125,000 in truckloads of pet food to Feeding Tampa Bay and Western North Carolina.

We’re closely monitoring Hurricane Milton and continue to work with national and local partners, including the National Animal Rescues and Sheltering Coalition and the American Red Cross, to provide support where it’s needed most.

Hurricane Helene Disaster Response Update - 9/30/2024

PetSmart Charities continues to stay connected with national human service and animal welfare disaster response partners like the American Red Cross and the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC) to closely monitor the needs of people and pets in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Both animal welfare and human services organizations with pet programming can apply for support via the PetSmart Charities Disaster Response Grant Portal. Applications have been slowly received due to the power and cellular service outage. Despite these limitations, we have granted $30,000 so far and expect more grant applications to trickle in as power and cell service are restored and needs assessments and recovery efforts continue throughout the week.

Those seeking shelter services can visit the American Red Cross Sheltering Services website to locate a pet-friendly family shelter near them. Additionally, if you know of someone who has been separated from family and loved ones due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, you can direct them to the American Red Cross Hurricane Helene Reunification page for more information on support. Thank you, as always, for your support. We will keep you updated as we continue to receive additional information.
